5 FAQs about Invisalign answered

When it comes to straightening your teeth as an adult, or even as a teenager, there are many options open to you. Without you needing to wear noticeable metal braces.
This will range depending on the severity of the misalignment that you have. And, in cases where the teeth are more chronically misaligned, a fitted metal brace is more likely to get the desired results. With mild to moderate cases, however, you can usually have them corrected with a fitted invisible aligner.
At Spa Dental Sydney, our team knows a lot about realigning the teeth of adults and teenagers without metal braces. And will happily be able to offer those who have mild to moderate cases of dental misalignment Invisalign in Sydney.
However, before you rush off to book your appointment with our team, you may have some questions. And here, we will aim to answer 5 of the most popular questions that we receive about Invisalign in Sydney.
How does it work?
Traditional braces work by being attached to your teeth and gently pushing them over time into the correct position.
Invisalign in Sydney does much the same thing. Except, instead of the aligner being fitted and then being adjusted to move the teeth, the movement required is built into the aligner itself. This is achieved by our team performing an intraoral scan of your mouth and then sending the scan to a dental laboratory. In this laboratory, these digital images are then moved to create the correct alignment. From this, a set of aligners are printed using a 3D printer.
How long will it take?
The length of time that you will need to wear an invisible aligner will depend on how severe your misalignment is. And of course, whether or not you keep it in. You will need to do so for about 22 hours per day. For the average patient who is using an invisible aligner, the treatment can take as little as 3 to 6 months.
Is it expensive?
You may have concerns that using an invisible aligner will be more expensive. However, our team will be able to offer suitable patient financing options to help you spread the cost of the treatment into affordable monthly repayments. So all you have to do is worry about showing off your striking new smile!
Does it hurt?
There is something of a misconception that using an invisible aligner will not cause discomfort. However, you need to consider that the aligner has a job very similar to a brace; to move your teeth! And to do so pressure will need to be applied to the teeth, which can cause discomfort. This should be manageable using over the counter pain relief such as paracetamol. But if you find you are in excessive levels of discomfort, please contact our team.
Does it work?
It may seem too good to be true at first, but rest assured, this aligner will work for you if we deem you to be suitable for it. And yes, overall it has a 97% success rate 5 years after the treatment has been concluded. But remember, for your teeth to stay in their correct position post-treatment, our team will provide you with retainers. These will need to be worn until we determine but they are no longer needed.
